Frequently Asked Questions
African Coalition on Migration and Development (ACOMAD) is a platform that brings together activists, experts, scholars, practitioners and emerging interests on migration issues and related challenges as it affects the development of the whole African Continent, Africans and the international community.
500 years of exploitation by foreigners is enough. It is time for us to do something for our own survival. Grant in aid (ODA) is a new form of colonization. A whole continent cannot live forever on aid which has become a crime of policy.
The platform was as a result of a project on irregular migration supported by European Commission and other development partners which the organizers felt should be sustained through discussing and taking collective actions, awareness raising and advocacy that would preserve African resources and facilitate sustainable development for African countries.
Recognizing the fact that Africans have to join hands together in rolling up our sleeves in fighting neo-colonialism and migration that robs Africa of development; and recognizing the need to come together to campaign for Africanism; advocate better migration management and protect human, natural and mineral resources of Mother Africa;
We established African Coalition on Migration and Development (ACOMAD), and accept this constitution as the supreme document to guide our activities.
To advocate and provide consultation for social economic, political justice, peace and development for Africa by Africans; promote transparency and accountability among institutions across the continent and campaign against human rights abuses and exploitation perpetrated against Africans anywhere in the world.
The constitution was formally endorsed by the General Assembly of ACOMAD on the 28th day of October, 2020. This significant event was witnessed by esteemed members of our coalition. The ratification of the constitution was further authenticated by the signatures of our Board of Trustees, thereby marking a pivotal moment in our organization’s history.
